Clover, South Carolina


Like most of South Carolina, Clover is an area rich in history. In the 1700's, Catawba and Cherokee Indians were the first to inhabit the area. About 50 years later, the Scots-Irish immigrants arrived establishing churches and communities in the area. Years later, the American Revolution reached nearby King's Mountain, where a battle considered the turning point of the War was fought.

Being only 30 miles from Charlotte, Clover has now become a quickly growing community. Charlotte has become one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Many people who find jobs in Charlotte live in the surrounding areas, such as Clover. Clover is far enough so that you don't have to live in the big city atmosphere, but close enough to commute to work.

Clover, located in rural York County, is a small town where family, friends, and the community can get together and have fun. We also have many opportunities for recreation at nearby Lake Wylie, Paramount's Carowinds Amusement Park, Museum of York County, Historic Brattonsville and King's Mountain National and State Parks. For the sports enthusiast there is football, basketball, baseball and others all within driving distance.

The Clover School District has become a leader in education in South Carolina. Modern facilities including the spacious school auditorium, as well as exceptional staff, who have helped the program excel in its field. Nearby York Technical College, Baxter Hood Center, and Winthrop University have much to offer York County citizens seeking post-high school education.
