The three-square-mile city has 13 miles of shoreline, very rugged topography, and is densely wooded with hardwoods and tall pines. Tega Cay is a close-knit recreational community fueled by volunteers. Students attend Fort Mill, SC schools, which are close by and are considered the best in the State. The city has its own Police Department and Public Works Department, as well as a Recreation Director, Horticulturist, Code Enforcement officers and administrative staff. There is a City Manager and a Council made up of a Mayor and four at-large Council members
